Special Education Consultant Update

As had been shared in an earlier correspondence, the district has retained Theresa DeFrancis, an experienced and highly regarded education consultant and attorney with more than thirty years in the field of special education. Ms. DeFrancis will independently review and revise staff development materials as necessary. Ms. DeFrancis shall also conduct training in the procedures of special education, which training session(s) shall be provided on site at the Darien Public Schools and delivered to school personnel (administrators, teachers, other certified staff) and parents. She shall also be responsible for providing recommendations to the Board of Education and Superintendent of Schools needed to ensure the Board’s compliance with the law. The Darien Board of Education has moved!

The Darien Board of Education is now located at 35 Leroy Avenue. This is the site of the old Darien Public Library. The Board of Ed can still be reached by telephone at 203.656.7400.

Appointment of Ellen Dunn as Principal of Darien High School

The Board of Education and Superintendent of Schools are pleased to announce the appointment of Ellen Dunn, as Principal of Darien High School, effective July 1^st. Ms. Dunn will succeed Arlene Gottesman who has served as Interim Principal for the 2012-13 school year. Click here.
