On December 16, 2013, the Darien Board of Education received the final version of the special education report, “Procedures and Practices Relevant to the Administration and Operation of Instruction, Services and Support for Students with Disabilities in the Darien Public Schools for the 2012-2013 School Year,”  prepared by Sue Gamm, Esq.  An Executive Summary (revised December 16, 2013) was also received.

We thank Attorney Gamm for her extensive report and have started the review process.  Please find links to the report(s) Full Report, Revised Executive Summary.

We look forward to discussing these findings at our next Board meeting on January 14th, in the context of our preliminary action plan.  The preliminary action plan presented on December 10th took into account the 70 page executive summary and the recommendations from the two state reports.  We are now taking the time to read the 161 page full report to make sure that any additional information provided by Attorney Gamm will be fully considered as the action plan takes shape.  The Administration will be reporting to the Board on a monthly basis.
