WHO DO I CALL WITH A QUESTION OR SUGGESTION?

 

The Darien School District’s communication protocols help to promote direct, open and respectful interactions so that problems and concerns can be worked out quickly and efficiently.   The communication protocol starts with the staff member closest to the situation, as that person will usually have the most information.  At times, additional personnel are required to resolve specific situations.   Appropriate communication channels for a variety of topics are listed below.  The district encourages any and all questions from parents and residents regarding school matters.

postheadericon 2015-16 Opening of Schools Information

Superintendent of Schools Daniel Brenner announces that the opening of schools for students will be on Monday, August 31st. 

 

Regular bus schedules for all students, kindergarten through grade twelve, for the entire year will appear in the August 27th edition of the Darien Times, the August 28th edition of the Darien News, Darien Patch, and in the August 30th edition of the Stamford Advocate.   In addition, the regular bus schedules will be posted on the school district website, www.darienps.org the week of August 24th.

 

Opening and closing times of the schools are as follows:

                                                                                                

Tokeneke, Hindley, Royle        8:25am til 2:55pm

Ox Ridge and Holmes              9:00am til 3:30pm

Middlesex                               7:55am til 2:22pm

Darien High School                 7:40am til 2:20pm

 

Mailings to parents from school principals will contain information on the schedule for opening day and other details.

 

A special one hour kindergarten visit has been scheduled for the first day of school, Monday, August 31st.  Parents should plan to provide transportation and participate in the orientation with their children.  The schedule varies by school and parents will receive written notification from their school principals.   Beginning Tuesday, September 1st, kindergarteners will be in school for the full day and dismissal will occur at the same time as that of students in grades 1 through 5.  Other specific information regarding dismissal of students, e.g. students being picked up at the end of the day, will be sent to parents in mailings from school principals.
