Course Objectives: 1. To prepare students for the Advance Placement (AP) Studio Art test by creating a portfolio of 29 pieces showing a breadth in skill and creative ideas as well as a concentration on a topic or technique.
Description: In the AP Studio Art course, students will create a portfolio of work for the AP exam. The majority of the pieces will come from their AP studio work, however, students will also use some work from previous art class to supplement the required number of pieces. Students will use all previous learned knowledge and skills, and will refine their drawing and painting skills throughout the year long course. Students have to submit 5 pieces to the AP Examination Board for evaluation. Students have to create 12 pieces showing their breadth in skill and creativity as an artist. Students also have to submit a concentration of 12 pieces on a topic, idea, concept, or technique.
Expectations: A high level of interest and personal commitment is expected of the AP level student. Students will experiment and strive for original art concepts. All work will be presented in a professional manner. Students will be required to work outside of class time to complete their portfolio.
