Fathers Day, June 17, 2012 from 10 am to 2 pm the Darien Collector's Car Show features 100 vintage, special interest and muscle cars. The Darien Father's Day Collector's Car Show is an annual opportunity to celebrate Father's Day, springtime, the beautiful New England countryside, and, oh yes, fine automobiles. The event is held at Darien's beautiful eight-acre Tilley Pond Park. This year marks the seventh consecutive year of the Darien car show and its fifth at Tilley Pond Park. The show was begun by the Darien Downtown Revitatlization Initiative and is now held under the auspices of the Darien Chamber of Commerce, Charles B. England, Jr., show manager.

TV79 is the Town of Darien's local government channel. It is available only to Cablevision subscribers living in Darien. If you have "satellite dish" TV or AT&T uVerse, you cannot watch our programming. Staffed by volunteers, TV79 covers 2 - 3 government meetings each week, usually airing them live as they happen and repeating them beginning each Friday when our new program schedule gets underway. In addition, TV79 produces interview programs, mini-documentaries, public service announcements and covers town events such as the Memorial Day parade. No experience necessary. Hands-on training is provided. Flexible schedules, though most work is weekday evenings.

The Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum is one of the earliest and finest surviving Second Empire Style country houses ever built in the United States. - Volunteer Opportunity: The Aquarium welcomes students to its Gallery Guide Program. Students can work on weekends and during school vacations as guides explaining the Aquarium’s many exhibits. SoundWaters, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1989, is the leading environmental education organization on Long Island Sound. Programs take place at the Coastal Education Center in Cove Island Park, in Stamford, Connecticut, on the SoundWaters, an 80’ three-masted schooner; at schools, community centers and field sites throughout the region; and at our summer program for children ages 2-14.

- Volunteer Opportunity: SoundWaters has opportunities for high school students who are interested in working for an organization that emphasizes education and respect for the environment, especially the marine environment. Volunteers can help by greeting visitors, answering the phone and explaining exhibits; staffing the marine exhibit room; feeding the fish and cleaning the tanks; helping with the touch tank; and maintaining the learning lab.
