The Connecticut Chapter of the American Red Cross was formed from the union of eight American Red Cross Chapters in Connecticut - the Charter Oak, Darien/Stamford, Mid-Fairfield Country, Milford, New Canaan, South Central Connecticut, Waterbury Area and Western Connecticut Chapters. The American Red Cross, a humanitarian organization led by volunteers and guided by its Congressional Charter and the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross Movement, will provide relief to victims of disasters and help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.

Fathers Day, June 19, 2011 from 10 am to 2 pm the Darien Collector's Car Show features 100 vintage, special interest and muscle cars. The Darien Father's Day Collector's Car Show is an annual opportunity to celebrate Father's Day, springtime, the beautiful New England countryside, and, oh yes, fine automobiles. The event is held at Darien's beautiful eight-acre Tilley Pond Park. This year marks the fifth consecutive year of the Darien car show and its third at Tilley Pond Park. The show was begun by the Darien Downtown Revitatlization Initiative and is now held under the auspices of the Darien Chamber of Commerce, Charles B. England, Jr., show manager.

TV79 is the Town of Darien's local government channel. It is available only to Cablevision subscribers living in Darien. If you have "satellite dish" TV or AT&T uVerse, you cannot watch our programming. Staffed by volunteers, TV79 covers 2 - 3 government meetings each week, usually airing them live as they happen and repeating them beginning each Friday when our new program schedule gets underway. In addition, TV79 produces interview programs, mini-documentaries, public service announcements and covers town events such as the Memorial Day parade. No experience necessary. Hands-on training is provided. Flexible schedules, though most work is weekday evenings.

The Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County, Inc. is lower Fairfield County's primary hunger-relief organization. We are the only food bank that services this area. The Food Bank provides food to about 100 non-profit agencies and programs that serve low income people in our six town service area through bags of groceries and congregate meals. This includes soup kitchens, food pantries, child care programs, homeless shelters, senior centers, domestic violence safe houses, and rehabilitation programs.

PAWS is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization in continuous operation since 1962 by Westport, Connecticut resident Betty Long to rescue homeless dogs and place them in permanent homes. In the early 1980s, our rescue efforts were expanded to include cats. PAWS rescues & rehomes approximately 115 dogs and 435 cats annually. Many of the dogs faced euthanasia at local pounds and most of the cats that we help are strays and abandoned cats that roam our streets. A portion of the pets that come to PAWS have been relinquished by their owners who are no longer able to care for them.

Push-N-Pull Parade - Assist on July 4, 2011 in set-up and clean-up of Tilley Park for this annual childrens' event. Volunteers always needed for mailings, copying, and stuffing envelopes.
