Regulations
for Airing Content on Darien Public Schools’ Educational Access Channel
a)
a) The Darien Public Schools’
Educational Access Channel is for the exclusive use of the
Darien Public Schools and under its sole
jurisdiction. The purpose of the
Darien Public Schools Access Channel is to promote the educational interests of
the Darien Public Schools.
Information and programs broadcast on the channel must have originated
directly from the educational programs, organizations, and services of the
District and may be aired only with the approval of the principal of the school
from which they originate. Content must
comply with the Board policies and school rules of the Darien Public Schools
and must promote the best interests of the District.
b)
b) The Darien Public Schools’
Educational Access Channel may, upon approval of the
Superintendent, cooperate in furthering the work of Darien non-profit
organizations,
limited to school parent organizations, community-wide service agencies,
and local
government agencies in communicating or promoting activities or programs
that are non-
partisan, are non-controversial, and are in the general public
interest. Operation of the
Darien
Public Schools Access Channel must conform to all Federal and State regulatory
requirements. Broadcast
facilities and equipment for the Darien Public Schools
Educational Access Channel are the property of the Darien Board of
Education.
c)
c) Broadcast facilities and
equipment for the Darien Public Schools Educational Access Channel are under
the direct supervision of the Darien High School Principal. The programming of any and all information
or broadcast content to be aired must be done under the coordination of the
certified librarians or other designee of the Principal.
d)
d) Program content must be free
of copyright restrictions as per Darien Public School’s Electronic Environment
Guidelines and User Agreement.
e)
e) Program content must be
appropriate for broadcast to general audiences in respect to: language, sexual
content, disturbing images, controversial topics, harassment, or harmful
content as per Darien Public School’s Electronic Environment Guidelines and
User Agreement.
f)
f) Program content must not
sell/advertise any commercial product or take any political, religious, or
controversial stance as per Darien Public School’s Electronic Environment
Guidelines and User Agreement.
g)
g) Program content must not
facilitate any criminal activities as per Darien Public School’s Electronic
Environment Guidelines and User Agreement.

h)
Student
voices and images appear on the
educational access channel as directory information, which is released in
accordance with the Board of Education policy on release of student records.
(Refer to Board Policy # IC6).
i)
i) Tapes shall be of broadcast quality
for both audio and video portions and should be cued to the start of the
program.
j)
j) Tapes shall be submitted
first to the respective school’s building administrator for preview and
authorization, prior to broadcast.
k)
k) No tape may be
aired unless the following application has been filled out completely, and approval has been
obtained by written signature of the responsible administrator.

l) All information provided on the forms which are in
the Appendices to these regulations and the signatures affixed to those forms
means each signatory has read and agrees to the regulations contained in
statements a through k above, and to the
standards and expectations of Board Policy #JB3 (School Sponsored Information
Media).
