TRAILS: Tool for Real-time Assessment of Information Literacy Skills.

Student Instructions:

 

Please follow the directions below to complete the TRAILS assessment.
The assessment must be completed by the due date assigned by your teacher,
and will be considered a required homework assignment.

  1. Go to the TRAILS web site noted on the slip of paper you received from your teacher.
      • Example: <http://www.trails-9.org/session/XXXXX>.
  2. Check that you are on the page with the greeting "Welcome to TRAILS" and the Session for your teacher.
      • Example: Carlson WCiv Period 2 Fall 09.
  3. Read the instructions.
      • "This assessment presents multiple choice items in various formats. Some items
        allow for a SINGLE response only. Other items permit MULTIPLE responses.
        Please read each item carefully and respond to the best of your ability. Navigate
        through the assessment with the buttons at the bottom of each page."
  4. To begin the assessment enter your personal code (see slip of paper) and click on the READY button.
  5. Read each question carefully and select a single or multiple answer(s) as each
    question indicates.
  6. When you click on NEXT (or PREVIOUS) at the bottom of the screen of questions, TRAILS saves those answers.
  7. If you do not complete the assessment, you can restart the session by following the directions above.
  8. Once you click the FINISHED button your assessment will be closed.
  9. You will be able to see your score in a few days by returning to the web site and entering your personal code.
