Sign Up For the DPS “family portal”

Darien Public Schools have adopted a new student information system called Aspen. This secure, Web-based system manages all facets of student data – from attendance, to grades to schedules. Any DHS parent or guardian can sign on to Aspen's “family portal” in order to gain access to their student's attendance, grades, and course information. We expect that the family portal will enable parents, teachers, and administrators to work together and communicate more effectively and efficiently.

The parent portal will replace last year's ParentConnect and the periodic email progress reports that teachers sent out. Please go to the following website http://www.darienps.org/boe/portal.php in order to receive information about signing on to this new parent communication tool. If you've already signed up for a son or daughter who is a student at Middlesex Middle School there is no need to sign up again – your family portal will give you access to information about your children in both schools. If you experience any difficulty with the signup process please send an email to the district's IT Department at aspen@darienps.org

DARIEN PUBLIC SCHOOLS ED-ALERT:

Darien Public Schools' Ed-Alert is an emergency notification service that allows parents and staff to receive emails and text messages about urgent information from the Office of the Darien Superintendent of Schools. It is not meant to be a newsletter communication system. Instead, it is meant for high priority messages only, such as the following: * Emergency closings or delays due to weather or other factors * Police notifications about suspicious activity in the community * Other matters related to the welfare of our students and our schools. We recommend that each subscriber signs up for the "District Information" plus the notification for each school at which the subscriber has a student enrolled. To sign up for Ed-Alert click here http://www.myschoolpages.com/schools/darienps/

Athletes entering grades 9, 11, and 12 must have a current (365 days old or less) DHS sports physical exam form on file in the nurse’s office.
If you are entering grade 9, 11, or 12 and are not participating in any sport in any athletic season, you do not need to bring in any health forms.
Athletes entering grade 10 need BOTH the Connecticut State Health Assessment form AND the DHS sports physical exam form.
If you are entering grade 10 and are not participating in any sport in any athletic season, State Law requires you to have a physical and to bring the nurse a completed Connecticut State Health Assessment form.

Recycling Printer Cartridges @ MMS - Again this year, Middlesex is collecting and recycling used printer cartridges of all types and sizes, even the large laser cartridges. When you replace your printer cartridge at home or at work, please bring the used one to the red box at the message center or to Frank Keen in room 266. Our primary motivation is to lessen the impact on our natural resources and landfills. Middlesex also receives money for each recycled cartridge. Last year we received about $1,000 for the cartridges we recycled. The money goes to the Student Activities Fund. fkeen@darienps.org
