ANNOUNCEMENTS
DHSPA Meeting April 8, 2008
- In order for the Post Prom Party to happen on May 16th, we need 3 parents to step up and help with the planning of the Post Prom Party. In addition, we need 4 adult chaperones. The party is held at the Depot, it actually doesn’t require a lot of planning as we work with the Depot on it. Please contact Jayme Stevenson (jaymejs@aol.com) or Laurie Orem (oremj@aol.com) if you are interested…do it with a friend!!
- The Year-End Faculty and Staff Luncheon will be held on Thursday, June 12. It's early to start planning, but we thought we'd use this chance to ask for volunteers who would be happy to contribute some food to the Luncheon. We are looking for Chicken Salads, Fruit Salads, and finger food Desserts (but no Brownies please!). You can either sign up on the sheet going around the meeting today, or email Tricia Conley at Triciacon12@aol.com. Tricia will get in touch with you the week before the Luncheon with details on drop-off. The teachers really appreciate our efforts in arranging a nice Luncheon for them, so thanks for your help.
- ATTENTION 8th GRADE PARENTS! DHS Directory – Info Needed for 2008/2009! Work is currently underway on next year's directory. If you haven't already submitted your input, please see detailed instructions at http://www.darienps.org/dhspa/dhsdirectory.htm. DPN group membership will be opened up after May 1st ONLY to parents who have submitted their input.
- On Thursday, April 24th, Parent Awareness will host a program dedicated to BUILDING FRIENDSHIP SKILLS: Avoiding Cliques & Exclusion, with Meg Domino, MPH, CHES. This program will take place in the (new!) Tokeneke School Common Room from 9:00 - 10:30 am.
Starting in elementary school and peaking in middle school, aggression, usually physically with boys and emotionally with girls, starts to escalate, resulting in cliques, exclusion and bullying. Learn how and why this happens and what you can do to prevent your child from being the aggressor or the victim and to build healthy friendships. Learn to create an atmosphere of healthy choice making and positive ways to express feelings.
Any questions, contact: Leslie Pennington at penncohen@aol.com.
