The Darien Young Composers Concert
April 1, 2009

Guidelines and Rules

1.  All compositions must be primarily student created, but may have the guidance of a music teacher, parent or other knowledgeable music person.  For your information and planning, the "Composition Assessment Form" explaining the judging criteria should accompany this form. Please read it carefully.

2.  The concert will feature compositions that equally represent students from the Darien Public Schools at
the Elementary, Middle and High School levels.

3.  An individual cassette or CD recording of a live performance and a copy of the written representation

(see your teacher) of your composition must be submitted to your school music teacher on or before
Friday, March 6, 2009.  A music staff committee will then review the compositions and notify the
students who are accepted for the concert performance by March 13, 2009

     4.  All composers must be involved in the final presentation of their composition.

Selected participants are expected to be present for the Young Composers Concert on April 1 at 7:30 p.m.
Specific details will be announced to participants after March 13.

Please fill out all of the information below and submit it with a cassette or CD recording (one composition per tape or CD)
of your composition and a copy of the written score to your Music teacher on or before March 6, 2009.
