To all the Middlesex parents:

A few important items -

1. Thank you for a wonderful opening of school. The students seem eager to start the year off right.

2. The parking lot has been repainted. Please follow the arrows for the drop off lanes and please do not cut through the parking lot to drop off your child. It is for parking purposes only in the morning. The crosswalk has been extended for the students' and teachers' safety. Please note that all people entering the school must now cross at the designated crosswalk area.

3. The BOSTON TRIP packets will be coming home very soon for all 8th graders. The cost will be $550 and it is a fast turn-around timeline we must have. Please know that if finances are a concern, please call your child's guidance counselor. Special payment arrangements can be made, just let us know what you need.

4. Last but very important - It is with very mixed emotions that I share this news with you. Dana Pierce (Assistant Principal) has been named the new principal at Booth Hill Elementary School in Trumbull. I am absolutely thrilled for him, but sad to be losing him. I know he will be successful and I hope you all join me in wishing him well. He is scheduled to have his last day with us on Friday Sept 14th, but the specific details of his departure and the transition of a new administrator to Middlesex are being worked out at this time. I will keep you all posted.

Thanks again for all your support as we head off to a great year.

Debi Boccanfuso

MMS NEWS:

Again this year Middlesex is collecting and recycling used printer cartridges.

We accept both the small ink-jet cartridges and the large laser cartridges but not photocopier toner bottles.  When your printer cartridge is replaced at home or work you can bring the old one to Middlesex and place it in the green box at the message center.  Our primary motivation is to lessen the impact on our natural resources and landfills.  Middlesex also receives money for each returned cartridge.  Each year we raise about $1,000 for our "Student Activities Fund" from the cartridges we recycle.   For further information contact Frank Keen at fkeen@darienps.org .

6TH GRADE PARENT CHAPERONES NEEDED!

The first 6th grade TOPS event is Friday, October, 26th at the Rip Van Winkle Lanes in Norwalk.  Parent chaperones are needed from 3:15pm to 5:15pm.  It is also important that you DO NOT bring a car load of kids with you, or any younger siblings.  This event will only happen if we get enough chaperones!   Please e-mail Jen Fitzpatrick (ctfitzs@aol.com) or Janne Allam (janne13@optonline.net) if you can help.  THANKS!

Kid to Kid, the award winning  service group of youth volunteers supporting Person to Person is in  need of some adult volunteers to work 2 hours once or twice a month.  We traditionally meet after school on Fridays until 4pm.  It is a very small time commitment, yet a much appreciated service and excellent opportunity to introduce kids to public service.  New

welcome to help supervise)
