. Promotion ceremony poetry selected As the school year winds down, and students and teachers alike dream of lazy summer days, the eighth graders prepare for the finale of their Middlesex careers: Promotion. To get ready for the ceremony, every eight grader was asked to write a poem to feature in the Promotion program. The poems chosen for this year's program were written by Lisa Randall (Maroon), Lindsey Tyler (Tan), Charlotte Schaffer (Green), and Cindy Gaete (Navy). All worked very hard, and should be proud of their work. “My first draft took thirty minutes!” Lisa commented, “But it was worth.” The process of choosing the poems has not been a short one. Every eighth grader was required to write a mandatory poem, which they turned in to their English teacher for a grade. Once the students were handed back their poems, it was entirely up to them whether or not to submit their poem to the Promotion Committee anonymously. The Promotion Committee consisted of Mr. Beinstein, and team leaders, Ms. Peterson, Ms. Michael, Ms. Mullen, and Mrs. Torre. When it was time for them to choose the best poems, it just happened that each of the four poets were on different teams. |
