Spotlight: Who We Will Be
By Taryn B., Navy Team
We entered as
Tiny
Nervous
Anxious
Youth
But still bursting with life
Yet to be released
And when the time came
Our energy would show
We did get lost
In the confusion of the
Overcrowded halls
Filled to the brim with kids
Just as lost as us
The older more
“Mature”
Teenagers scared us
They hovered above
Our small little heads
But still we wished and wished
To be like them
And by the end of the year we had grown
So much
Both in height and in heart
We now knew
That our time would come
Another year came
We knew the school
Inside and out
No more surprises for us
Just classes
Friends
And teachers
Learning through experience
We were on our own
The teachers were there
But only as quiet guides
And hushed cheerleaders
Only there when we were really stuck
But they had it all planned out
They wanted us to be challenged
They wanted us to fret because
That is how the world is
They prepared us for the worst
And for that we are thankful
Everyone would agree that this grade was
The hardest to leave
The hardest to let go of
We had made so many new friends
New friends who we never thought we would make
But we did and when the time came to leave them
We just couldn't part
There were tears
And hugs
Of all shapes and sizes
Looking back on the great times we had through the year
We saw ourselves growing
And changing
Into the people we wanted to become
And now here we are
It took long enough but
We are not nearly ready to say Goodbye
Say goodbye to our school that Showed us how to be
Our best selves
To excel in everything we do
And to show gratitude for everything we got
During our important journey
We have learned from and completed some of our hardest tasks
These last three years
But they have made us and helped us to step into ourselves
And to show the world who we really are
And for that I know that I speak
For the whole school when I say
We will miss you
The community
The teachers
And even the classes
We will miss you because you
Helped us
Because you never gave up on us
And because you were there
To see us grow
And grow until
We became
Who we
Will be
