Yankees loss doesn't spoil Easter in the Bronx On Easter Sunday, I had the glorious opportunity to go and watch the best team in major league baseball, the New York Yankees, play the Baltimore Orioles. In my dad's hands was an “A-Rod Has Risen” sign and each member of my family proudly sported a New York Yankees cap. The sky was blue, the sun beat down on the field, and all-in-all it was the perfect game for a Yankee victory. On the mound for the Yankees was Darrell Rasner, the 26 year-old pitcher beginning his second year with the club. The first inning seemed promising with one man on and yet another bomb homerun by third baseman, Alex Rodriguez, putting the Yankees up 2-0. A sacrifice fly Bobby Abreu brought in another run for the Yanks the same inning. Success did not last long as former Red Sox, Kevin Millar, hit a two run homer of his own, bringing the Orioles right back in the game. For the next inning the score remained the same. But top of the 4 th , Millar was up again, and hit a three-run homerun, putting the Orioles up by 2. At this point the Yankee bullpen began to get very tired. Within only a few innings the Yanks went through four relievers, one of which who was Andy Pettite who has not relieved since 1998. With Pettite on the mound, the Yankees found themselves with a chance to come back as he threw 13 strikes out of his 20 total pitches. They ignored their chance though, and in the 7 th Baltimore scored yet again. Finally in the 8 th the Yankees scored one more as Johnny Damon tripled and then got home on a Melky Cabrera groundout. This however, would be their last, and the Yankees lost to the Orioles 6-4. Even with the loss, we all know that the Yankees are the most impressive team in all of major league baseball. This year the Yankees will be going to the World Series and will be winning. Go Yankees!
