It is time for the 3 rd Annual MMS “Hoops for Heart” 4 vs. 4 basketball tournament and this is your call to action. Mrs. Glaser and Mrs. Vincent are calling all MMS students, even if you don't play basketball to come and join this great tradition.

“Hoops for Heart” is a fundraiser that raises money for the American Heart Association that lets middle school students like you raise money in order to help fund research for heart disease, the number one killer in the United States. The money raised in this nation wide fundraiser is also used to educate people about heart disease and to help people stay fit and healthy, the easiest way to avoid a heart related problem. In the past two years Middlesex Middle School has raise a total of $6,092.50. But last year MMS students came up short and only raised $1,657 while in 2005 we raised an outstanding $4,435.50. So Mrs. Glaser and Mrs. Vincent want to beat last years total and are counting on you to help join the fight against the number one killer in the U.S.

Did I mention there are prizes? Well now people who participate can receive prizes in categories such as most money raised by a team, Sportsmanship award, Team Spirit award, and the overall team tournament winners. But if basketball isn't your thing and you still want to help the American Heart Association, you can still make donations to the fund by picking up a sponsor sheet or you can help by being a score keeper during the tournament. So please help this great cause in whatever way you can. All sign up packets must be turned in to Mrs. Vincent or Mrs. Glaser by May 11 th and you must raise a minimum of $10 per person (NO DOOR TO DOOR SALES). Remember a maximum of 5 people to a team and if you have any questions please see Mrs. Glaser or Mrs. Vincent. The tournament begins one Tuesday, May 15 th for 6 th graders and Wednesday and Thursday, May 16 th and 17 th for 7 th and 8 th graders.
