MMS Says Goodbye Mr. Pierce; Hello Mrs. Girard
By McKinley S. & Jessie S., Student Editors

For the last four years, Middlesex has had the great pleasure of having a principal and two assistant principals. However, the end of September brought with it a change to one of those positions.

Known best by the 7 th graders, Mr. Pierce worked on the second floor as one of the assistant principals. He left us about two weeks into the school year, which he said was difficult for him but was really exciting.

He has always had the dream of being in teaching, which he was for many years, but loved being the man in charge. Now that he finally has the chance to really be the head-honcho, he is ecstatic, but who wouldn't be?

Mr. Pierce now works as the principal at an elementary school in Trumbull , which he says in a fantastic change. He loved having middle schoolers for these past years, and we definitely prepared him for this.

Middlesex has the best kids ever. They're smart, polite, fun, always laugh at my jokes,” Mr. Pierce chuckled. After his experience here, he thought he would never leave, but the best is for the best.

At his new school, Mr. Pierce really wants to connect with all of the students. He believes that he can learn from the older students what the old principal used to do, and use that information to connect with the whole student body. He'd love to play kickball and go around to class rooms as the new principal, and he plans on doing that.

But the change from having Dr. Bo and Mr. B could be a hard one for him. He says, “The most difficult thing that I think could happen is not having the help of the staff. There aren't any assistant principals there, only me. But I think that I can get it all done.”

The Dragon wishes Mr. Pierce the best of luck!

MMS Welcomes Mrs. Girard

It is time to welcome a new authority figure at Middlesex Middle School , Mrs. Girard. Mrs. Girard is the temporary assistant principal taking over Mr. Pierce's previous responsibilities. But she is no rookie to education, as she has taught at countless schools including our very own Darien High School , Hillcrest Middle School in Trumbull , Riverside Middle School in Greenwich , and South School in New Canaan .

Although Mrs. Girard is new here to MMS, she already feels very dedicated to this school. She intends to help make Dr. Boccanfuso's life easier, support the work ethic of our amazing teachers and staff, and of course to meet the needs of the students and parents here at MMS.

Mrs. Girard's favorite thing about this school so far is how friendly and welcoming the students and teachers are. Education has always been special to Mrs. Girard. She feels that being an assistant principal is a way to give back to the profession that has really affected her life, and Mrs. Girard feels very fortunate to have the opportunity to work with all the wonderful people at MMS.

Some words of advice from Mrs. Girard to us are that good enough is never enough. We should keep striving to grow and improve in all the things we do. Mrs. Girard describes the student body here at Middlesex as very positive. She believes that we are all bright, energetic, multi-talented, respectful young men and woman.

Mrs. Girard believes that this school stands above the other schools that she has taught at in different ways ways. She believes that a sense of cooperation and respect runs through this school due to student's determination to learn, and teachers above and beyond efforts to provide high quality lesson plans. Mrs. Girard is a sweet, sincere woman that our school is blessed to have as a member of our already extraordinary staff.

As sad as it is to say goodbye to Mr. Pierce, it is time to turn a new page and with the help of all of us, it is Mrs. Girard's turn to write it. Let us all continue to welcome her to our school community.
