Ali : What made you want to become a guidance counselor?

Mr. Power : I like working with people, especially children.

Ali : How long have you been a guidance counselor? How long have you been at Middlesex?

Mr. P. : I came to Middlesex Middle School as an intern in 2001. I was then hired the next year (02'), and I have been here ever since.

Ali : Who was the Principal when you first started here at Middlesex?

Mr. P. : Mr. Nelson was the main principal when I came. Mr. Griffin and Mrs. Boccanfuso were both assistant principals.

Ali : Did you always dream about being a guidance counselor when you were growing up?

Mr. P. : No. Ten years ago I wanted to be a police officer.

Ali : What were your interests as you grew up?

Mr. P. : I enjoyed almost all sports. But I didn't have a specific passion for anything.

Ali : What made you want to shave your head in front of the whole school?

Mr. P. : Well, magazine sales were down significantly, the magazine drive committee was trying to motivate students to sell more, so I became that motivation.

Ali : Was it your idea to shave your head for motivation?

Mr. P. : Not at all. Mr. Beinstein actually suggested me for it.

Ali : What will you be doing next year, if anything, for the magazine drive?

Mr. P. : You should ask Mr. Beinstein that question.
