This month, Neirad takes an inside look to three DHS students’ second home. Darien High School firefighters include Peter Steinegger, Ryan Starcuzzi and Laura Byrne. These students drop their homework to jump on fire trucks going to save burning houses and shut down I-95 for car crashes.

Downstairs, the rooms include a flat screen television, a pool table, and trophies the fire department won from parade competitions.

A piece of the World Trade Center. All three fire trucks responded from Darien to New York City on September 11, 2001 to standby at the fire houses of the men at ground zero.

Each firefighter is given his (or her!) own cubby where they keep their gear.

Each fire truck comes with a different cartoon!

There is a huge kitchen where on duty crews cook dinner.

Here is the chief’s office where they receive 911 calls. Most calls include activated fire alarms and car crashes on the highway.
