When thinking about the next awesome movie coming up, many immediately think of "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" which just opened over Memorial Day weekend. Harrison Ford is still the man. Give this 65-year-old actor a whip and you have an amazing movie backed by the greatest directors of our time, Lucas and Spielberg. Now throw in a Disney all-star like Shia La Beouf and the studios are expected to have an easy victory at the box office this summer. The film is already raking up big buck. "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" took in nearly $127 million over the three-day Memorial Day holiday weekend.
“Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” is expected to be a great action-adventure movie to see because of the success of the original trilogy. I’m sure “Ironman” Robert Downey Jr. is quaking in his uncomfortably cold metallic boots. Christian Bale is probably feeling the whip too with all the hype surrounding him with Batman’s latest chapter, “The Dark Knight” opening this summer. Personally, I hadn’t even known about “Ironman” until two weeks after it came out, which says something about this new franchises chances of longevity.
The key to “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal” is the aging of Indiana Jones who was last seen riding into the sunset at the end of “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.” (1989) Harrison Ford is the man: he is pretty much the better version of Dennis Quaid. Harrison Ford was awesome in “Star Wars,” he was the one who made it watchable, and anything else he has ever done in his professional such as “Patriot Games.”
People have always been very attached to the “Indiana Jones” series and have never wanted a sequel, especially the makers of “ South Park” because they feel directors like Spielberg and Lucas ruin their classics with sequels. Now that the new movie is made and ready to go the buzz is good. Indiana Jones Fanatic Michelle Birsky said, “I was really excited about the movie coming out. Shia Le Beouf is a cutie.”
After seeing the movie I have to say how disappointed I was with it. Spielberg and Lucas shot the movie in the same style as the old movie with lots of very ridiculous action and never ending fights. I think the problem was that the plot…in fact, just about everything was terrible in my opinion. When I saw the movie on Memorial Day it ruined the holiday for me. It was just a blur of poorly made storylines and the directors trying to give the series some closure. By the end of the movie I really missed the $8.50 I had wasted.
