MUSE Singer Matt Bellamy: MOST PSYCHOTIC (and Hot) Man in the World
NEIRAD enilno edition
In one life, his Italian girlfriend tells him he has slightly paranoid tendencies. In his other life, one can find him wailing a falsetto at the top of his lungs while playing some of the greatest guitar riffs of all time in the midst of an epic and chaotic light show.
Put those two lives together, and you get one of the hottest men in the world (he won the Sexiest Male award at the Shockwaves NME Awards); a Brit who stands only 5 feet 7 inches but has musical ambition that is so great that it can’t be captured by any worldly metaphor,. The 31-year-old has political ambitions that involve uniting all of Europe into one country called Eurasia, seen in his song “United States of Eurasia” where he sings, “why split the states/ when there can only be one.”
For those that do not know of the revolutionary musical ambition of Muse’s lead singer Matt Bellamy, he has fused almost every genre of music into one sound, the sound of his rock band Muse.
Some of Muse’s notable songs are a metal anthem called the “Uprising,” a six minute guitar-electronic progressive rock epic about a region on Mars called “Knights of Cydonia,” a hip-hop rock metal fusion about glaciers and black holes called “Supermassive Black Hole,” a classical-pop-rock fusion love song featuring piano backgrounds, a clarinet solo, and a vocal part sung in French called “I Belong To You,” and a 12 minute three- part symphony called “Exogenesis.”

Just by taking a look at the lyrics to the songs of Muse, one might wonder if songwriter-composer-singer-guitar piano player-philosopher Matt Bellamy is sane.
Well according to Bellamy, he is the only sane one in this world. Look at his song “Apocalypse Please” where Bellamy proclaims, “And this is the end, the end / this is the end / of the world.”
Bellamy’s obsession with the apocalypse and the downfall of human kind is also apparent in his song “Knights of Cydonia,” where he chants, “No one’s gonna take me alive / Time has come to make things right.”
One time, Matt Bellamy was so convinced that the apocalypse was coming that he went to the store and stocked up on 40 days worth of canned food. Even his psychologist girlfriend couldn’t convince him otherwise.
The unorthodox topics Bellamy covers in his lyrics are a product of his simply unorthodox mind. Bellamy had to go through his parents divorce and his uncle’s death at the hands of the IRA. His uncle was a British soldier who was in Northern Ireland and was killed there, but the IRA never owed up to his death, and this led Bellamy to his obsession with conspiracy theories. Some of Bellamy’s outspoken conspiracy theories are that 9/11 was an inside job, Jesus’ mother Mary was extremely cool for convincing everyone she was a virgin after conceiving, and the British royal family is made up of shapeshifting lizards.
Once, he got pissed off at a preying mantis and strapped it to a rocket and shot it into space. Over the top, paranoid, insane, call him what you want, but there is not a more dynamic personality that Matt Bellamy on this planet, or on Mars, or in a black hole, or anywhere in the universe.
Queen guitarist Brian May, who is one of Matt Bellamy’s influences, said of Muse, “They are extraordinary musicians who let their madness show through, always a good thing in an artist.”
