Freshman Joe Haddad really shows his style in his room with his personal paint job and passion for music. Joe has taken graffiti to the artistic realm. Joe’s cool paint work shows that an art form pretty much relegated to urban spaces -- such as subways and outer building walls – can also turn into work of merit in the home. While some dismiss graffiti as blight when they see it on the side of a building in New York, Joe sees inspiration in this nontraditional form of the creative process.

“I really like doing graffiti, but I didn’t have a place I could do it. So when I painted my room last year, I just went with it.”

“Last summer I went to South Africa and I bought it at a market. It is really cool, because it reminds me of how much fun I had there.”

Joe shows his love of music from his concert posters to his passion for guitar.

His dad got him his first concert poster and he just started to collect them.

He draws and does his homework at his desk and the sticks on his desk are the paints he uses for his graffiti.

“I like my room because it is very unique and I’ve never seen another like it, and my favorite part is the graffiti wall because I love to come into my room and be able to create awesome pieces of art whenever I want.”
