NEIRAD enilno edition

In just 21 days summer vacation begins. No homework, no tests and no schoolwork of any kind to intrude upon these next two months. One of the many things students will enjoy is the chance to watch as much television as they want. In anticipation of those months, Katherine Rissolo has a preview of some of the best shows to while away the summer nights.

True Blood

True Blood

If you like vampires and blood than this will become your new favorite TV show. Similar to Buffy the Vampire Slayer and way better than Twilight and The Vampire Diaries, this show has it all. A girl, Sookie Stackhouse portrayed by Anna Paquin, who lives in Bon Temps, Louisiana where vampires are accepted, can hear other people’s thoughts.  She finds herself in a relationship with a vampire named Bill Compton played by Stephen Moyer.  Can she make the relationship between them work? It’s easy to be around him since she can’t hear his thoughts.  Although a little risqué at times it is one of the best shows out there. (SPOILER ALERT) The new season is featuring a new character, a werewolf named Alcide Herveaux  played by Joe Manganiello who is going to help Sookie find Bill. Watch out Taylor Lautner this hot new werewolf is competition. 3rd Season Starts-June 13 on HBO.

Royal Pains

Royal Pains

A medical show that is a cross between a cross between MacGyver and ER. The main character, Hank Lawson (Mark Feuerstein), and his friends treat patients in the exclusive Hamptons. Hank is a caring, sweet doctor that makes house calls to the rich and famous since he was fired from his job at a hospital. The best part about this show is Hank’s brother Evan who causes chaos wherever he goes. I love this show because of how the doctors use house supplies instead of actually medical equiment to help save patients. Every episode you learn a clever new tip on how to help someone in distress with just the basic tools around your home. This show could be categorized as a dramedy. The 2nd Season Starts Thursday June 3 on USA.

Burn NoticeBurn Notice

This is a  show about an ex-spy Michael Weston (Jeffery Donovan) who finds himself blacklisted and is now on his own trying to find the people who ruined his career. At the same time he is also working as a private investigator helping those in desperate need. He is aided by his sometime girlfriend/weapons expert Fiona, (Gabrielle Anwar) and former Navy Seal intelligence officer Sam (Bruce Campbell). They make an interesting and unbeatable team. There interesting because it does not matter how smart the bad guys are they always manage to outsmart them. The other clever part is how Micheal Weston talks through how he his plan explaining every detail making you feel like part of the team. I love this show because every episode there is intense action with buildings being blown up and cars crashing. Your never board when your watching burn notice.4th Season Starts June 3 on USA.

Leverage

Leverage

A show about five ex- criminals and con artists who work together to get revenge on current criminals. They are like modern day Robin Hoods giving back to those who have been mistreated. Featuring Nathan (Timothy Hutton) as the mastermind, Eliot (Christian Kane), the muscle, Hardison, (Aldis Hodge) the tech genius, Parker, (Beth Riesgraf) the thief and Sophie, (Gina Bellman) the grifter. The best part about this show is the character Parker because she is emotionless. She has no understanding of how to act around people so she tends to make a fool out of herself when she is tryign to talk. This show is all about heists so if you liked Oceans 11 or  The Perfect Score than this is the show for you.Season 3 starts Sunday June 20 on TNT.

Wipeout

Wipeout

For mindless fun, a reality TV show where contestants attempt an obstacle course to win money. The courses are uniquely designed to cause chaos, crashes, and most importantly wipeouts. The best part about the show are the big red balls where everyone has to try to jump from one to another but as you can see from the picture on the left it tends to not end well. People fall in strangest ways but, still have to pick themselves up to complete the course. With hosts John Henson, John Anderson and Jill Wagner you are sure to laugh your socks off.  New season starts June 1 on ABC.
