After a long night of tossing and turning in anticipation for Santa’s visit, kids around the world are finally able to tiptoe down the stairs as the sun rises on Christmas Day and discover what has been left for them. Holiday gifts come in all shapes and sizes, and while many people go straight to the large, gift wrapped boxes, others start out by peeking inside their stockings. This popular holiday tradition of hanging stockings from a mantle or above a fireplace means different things to different people.
The little surprises that are found in Christmas stockings have been given the name “stocking stuffers." These items range from high-tech gadgets to jewelry, to candy and holiday treats - everybody’s stocking is different from the next. Some people have family traditions and receive the same special gift each year in their stocking, while others are surprised with new stocking stuffers every Christmas. Since there is such a wide range of what these little gifts may be, Neirad Enilno went on a search for Darien High School’s top five stocking stuffers.
