Top 7 Holiday Traditions

Everyone loves the festivities of the winter season. Regardless of whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, or some other religious holiday, you can usually expect family gatherings, presents galore, festive music, delicious food, and if you are lucky, snow. But although most holiday experiences include the list above, everyone has different traditions that from unique memories to look back on fondly:

Senior Danielle Tilford
“We open family presents on Christmas Eve at my house, and then Santa’s presents in the morning.”

Junior Elliott Helgans
“Everyone on my street carols on Christmas Eve, with people joining in when the group comes to their house. The neighbor at the last house on the street dresses up as Santa Claus and gives out presents.”

Senior Alex Bruno
“On Christmas Eve, I eat fondue with my mom’s side of the family. We bring the fondue pot to my Grandma’s house, and we also watch the Yule log.”

Senior Lindsey Tyler
“Katherine Minion, Lauren Perkins, and I watch ‘Elf’ during the holidays.”

Junior Will Pfeiffer
“Most of my family goes over to my uncle’s house in New Jersey on Christmas Eve. There are usually 26 people in total at the house.”

Seniors Madeleine and Leslie Gill
“We exchange gifts on Christmas Eve. I always get Leslie something nice bu–” “But I get her a lump of coal.”

Senior Lee Bolton
“I make a gingerbread house during the holidays, but my dad and brother always eat the front door before it’s finished. Every year I have to make a new plan to stop them.”
