As New Year’s Eve approaches, everyone starts making a mental list of potential resolutions they hope to uphold throughout the upcoming year.
One usually agrees to stick to one of these resolutions. Whether it is a major lifestyle change or a minor improvement, it is often pursued with tons of enthusiasm on New Year’s Day. Resolution makers are still quite excited about taking the first steps in accomplishing their goals or making changes.
But after a few weeks pass, the exciting idea of the New Years’ Resolution sometimes begins to fade, and people slip back into old habits. It seems as though most resolutions are abandoned and goals are left unachieved, but there are many people who successfully uphold their resolutions until the next Dec. 31 comes along, and some even continue with their resolution for years after they first made it.
Neirad talked to Darien High School students to find some of the most creative New Years’ resolutions, and if they were successful or dropped a few days into the New Year.

Caitlin Lyden (junior): “My New Year’s resolution is to only get mad at Brynn (Gasparino) once a day.”
Brynn Gasparino (junior): “My New Year’s resolution is to go above Caitlin (Lyden)’s standards.”
Cammie Kirby (junior): “My resolution is to be as great as Caitlin Lyden.”
