Chris Carmody: More than Meets the Eye
NEIRAD enilno edition
Chris Carmody, the future Nittany Lion, will be bringing his talents to Penn State University next fall, but before that he will be the golf captain for Darien High School this spring. He has been known to tear up the Golf course, his best score being a 70 for 18 holes, which he scored at Silvermine Golf Club and a 73 which he scored at the legendary St. Andrews Golf Club in New York in a competition. Junior teammate James Burgoyne says, “His lefty magic is undeniable and is a great guy to hit the links with.”
Ian Sullivan, senior captain of the high school basketball team, says kids call Carmody “Hot Hand” on the basketball court, because when he starts hitting shots, he can’t miss. Ian and Chris played together during Chris’s sophomore year on junior varsity. During that season, Chris left the high school team along with senior, Stockton McMullin, and they took their talents to the YMCA house league where he played for the Spurs. “House is more fun and just as intense with a lot less pressure,” Carmody said defending his move to House. Chris had a season/career high of 24 points. Chris has stayed in the house league ever since and is currently leading the Lakers to an undefeated season. As of 2/1/11, the Lakers are 6-0 and “Hot Hand” has lit up the court with his season high 20 points and being 4-4 from beyond the arc in his last game. Carmody, will be taking his skills not only tees off for the Blue Wave, but is currently a three-time Mini Golf Champion at “Tee Times”, with a best score of 27 for 18 holes, in New Jersey, where he and his family reside during the month of August. During his summer Carmody not only works on his putting game, but finds himself on the beach and surfing the waves of the shore. But what most people don’t know about Chris Carmody is that he is a legendary drummer.
I gave Carmody the challenge to cover Lupe Fiasco’s “The Show goes On” and this is what I got back…Check out his video and read the full-blown feature of Carmody’s drum career in the upcoming print issue of Neirad.
