Physical Education Class

Classes are designed to help students develop and refine their skills in a wide variety of activities. Personal improvement is emphasized throughout the program. It is our belief that students, armed with basic skills and techniques, usually experience success, develop confidence and are more likely to participate in physical activity as they get older.

A change in emphasis from team sports to individual sports occurs duringt he high school years. The 11th and 12th grade program stresses lifetime activites such as badminton, tennis, and fitness training, while the 9th and 10th grade program strikes a balance between team and individual sports. A strong fitness theme runs through the entire four-year program.

Students are required to pass twelve quarters of Physical Education during their four years at Darien High School. Students must pass the Weight Training class in Grade 9 or 10
