The Royle PTO has established guidelines to inspire and empower parents and students to care for the environment.
LESS PAPER!!!
Please bookmark our website. This year we will be sending only one flyer per event. If you misplace it, you can always find it under the Forms and Flyers tab. In addition, please read our weekly electronic newsletter, Royle Blast. This is a great source for current happenings at Royle as well as community events and sign-ups. Occasionally, we will also send mid-week, stand-alone messages. These will replace the reminder flyers we used to send.
CLASSROOM RECYCLING!!! Please look for 3 separate bins in each classroom that collect: Trash, Plastic & Paper. The students, teachers and custodians work together and take the steps to properly sort, dispose and recycle these items! Way to go Royle!
TRASH FREE TUESDAYS!!! In an effort to reduce lunch time waste, every Tuesday our Royle Students are encouaged to pack a trash-free lunch.

CAP RECYCLING!
We are all used to recycling plastic bottles, but we have been told that the caps were not recyclable and had to be thrown away. Now, we have found a way to recycle our caps! We have joined the Aveda Caps Recycling Program, whichwill use our caps to make bottles for Aveda products. At school, the children are encouraged to place the caps from their bottles in the empty water jugs throughout the school. Feel free to send any you collect at home to school with your child. Ms. Mailhot’s third graders will be counting and graphing all the caps collected. Check out the bulletin board on the second floor for results! Please contact Parent Coordinator Mary Yvonne Faulkner for more information.

DRINK POUCH BRIGADE!
Every year BILLIONS of drink pouches end up in dumpsters and landfills across America. Three companies - TerraCycle, Capri Sun and Honest Kids - are working together to put an end to this waste. TerraCycle converts the used drink pouches into unique fashion bags, tote bags, pencil cases, and other items for kids and adults! There are small buckets in the classrooms and a large blue bucket in the cafeteria where empty drink pouches will be collected. ALL brands are accepted! Whether consumed at home or in school, each empty pouch (straw removed) placed in the bucket will earn 2 cents for the PTO! Check out this great effort at www.terracycle.net/brigades/1-Drink-Pouch-Brigade.
