Sorry that I missed you all in school today. I was home sick, but I’m feeling much better and will be back in tomorrow. Tonight, for homework, remember to complete the symbolism worksheet. I’m looking for thorough responses so please use details and explanation! Also, remember that your next book club with your group is this Friday. You should read, “post-it”, and fill out a daily for Friday’s meeting.

Fill out a “daily” sheet on YOUR book for tomorrow’s book group meeting. Remember, you are to only fill out the first column (the whole column) for tomorrow. Once you complete the other two columns in class tomorrow, the sheet will be collected for a grade.

Since we have no school tomorrow and the guidance department will be joining our English class on Wednesday to do a mini lesson and activity, our next time together to discuss our Joan Bauer unit won’t be until Thursday.
On Thursday, we will go over the homework you did over the weekend on Peeled. You may just want to review it before then, but make sure you have indeed read it and completed the “post-it” note activity. On Thursday, we will go over how to turn your “post-it” notes into the weekly book club sheets. After we model that activity with Peeled, you will do a book club sheet for the Joan Bauer book you are reading. That will be Thursday night’s homework (I’ll give you the book club sheet on Thursday to do for homework).
For Friday, please read the first two chapters in your Joan Bauer book. As you read, please use the “post-it” note strategy.

Joan Bauer is coming tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tonight, for homework, please match the leads with the book. You can use your notes from class to help you figure it out, search Joan Bauer’s website (espeically the section titled BOOKS), or research the books on Amazon.com or Barnes & Noble.com. Either way, I think you’ll have fun matching and learning more about the novels Joan Bauer has written.
Since we didn’t get to go over the notecards in class today (shortened periods due to the school elections), please make sure you have your notecard in class for Friday!
Psst…many of you have a class or after school sports with Mr. Pietrafeso. It’s his birthday tomorrow! So, if you see him, wish him a happy one!
