Some review of the homework, specifically how the climate, mountains, and water might have shaped Greek culture.

Reviewed briefly the Minoans and the Myceneans.

Read the Greek creation myths and discussed why they exist.

HW: Write a creation myth. It can be on or about anything you would like. Remember, it needs to provide an explination of why something exists. 1 page double spaced.

 

We were in the library today completing a scavanger hunt to learn our way around the library.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

We read cartoons today!!! We discussed the Trojan War and compared the actual story to the Greek perspective and the information written down by Homer.

We started to read about the Dorians but ran out of time.

HW: Finish reading about the Dorains and figure out what the 3 most important facts were about them.

 

Today we reviewed the impact the Dorains had on the Greek world (which was the Iron Age, the Dark Ages, and the establishment of Athens and Sparta as major city states).

Then we read about Sparta and Athens (although you only had to read about one or the other) and collected information.

HW: Answer the questions on Athens and Sparta. Remember, they have to be a paragraph in length.

The concept of the Delian League was discussed and the Golden Age of Greece.

We talked about what the characteristics of a good leader were and the characteristics of a good person.

Today we talked about Pericles.

We looked at his life and his contributions to Athens.
