Welcome to Tokeneke School

Welcome to the 2013-2014 school year.

Tokeneke School is one of the five elementary schools located in Darien, CT and we serve approximately 500 students. Tokeneke School is known for its community spirit and strong academic programs. We build on this reputation through our continued commitment by providing the best possible student-centered educational experience for each child. We truly believe in educating the whole child at Tokeneke, taking into account each child's unique background, skills and abilities. Our staff realizes that learning is a lifelong process; it is a journey, not a destination. This year's journey of learning will be filled with exciting adventures for all.

All faculty members work in collaborative professional learning teams to strengthen our learner-centered classroom environments.  We continue to focus on high level thinking and problem solving, collaboration between peers, reflection and thinking about work as well as continuing the love of learning for all.

We work hand in hand with our Tokeneke Parent Teacher Organization and we encourage parent participation. I invite you to browse our website, volunteer at our school, and feel free to contact us at any time. We are very proud of the great things happening at Tokeneke. We hope that you can share in this exciting educational journey with us.  Our door is always open to students and parents, so feel free to stop by or contact us.

Together we can make a difference

Most sincerely,
Mary Michelson, Principal

Darien Public Schools Implementation of Visitor Management System Tuesday, December 3

The Darien Public Schools will feature a new visitor management system beginning on Tuesday, December 3, 2013.  Visitors who wish to enter school buildings will be requested to scan their photo identification and receive a visitor's badge.  This is part of a new security clearance system aimed at making our schools safer for students and staff.  It offers us a high-tech way of keeping track of who is in our buildings at any time and is useful in cases of emergency.
