Tokeneke Kids Care Club 2011-2012

Welcome! Kids Care Club is a national organization dedicated to developing compassion and inspiring a spirit of volunteering in children through hands-on projects. This year at Tokeneke the club is open to all students in grades 1-5. We will meet once a month from 2:50-3:45 on a Thursday in the Common Room.  Permission slips will be required for each event and will be sent home via backpack mail. October 20 – Please bring a new package of school supplies, and a gently used backpack that you may no longer need. Also bring a white tshirt for decorating. Introduction, planning expectations. We will make kids care club logo tshirts, and work on the school supply/used backpack drive to benefit Darien Social Services.

November  17– We will work on a school-wide coat drive, which will run from November 28th through December 15th, and prepare for the Thanksgiving turkey drive.

November  23 – Please donate a turkey for a needy family for Thanksgiving dinner. Supports the Food bank.

December 15 – We will wrap up our coat drive with a speaker from the charity to whom we will be donating the coats. We will also work on spreading notes of holiday cheer to local firefighters, police officers, elderly.

January 26 – We will kick off our Tokeneke Kindness Campaign which will run from February 1st- 17th.

February 5 – At the Super Bowl Pancake Breakfast we will host the Souper Bowl of caring, and will collect cans of food to donate to the food bank.

March 22 - Global outreach project TBD – We will work on a small scale project that will benefit children of the global community.

May 17 – We will have a speaker from the Obie Harrington Howes Foundation which helps to maintain and improve the quality of life of people with spinal cord injuries. We will gear up for our 5th annual Jump-rope-a-thon.

May 24 – Jump-rope-a-thon to benefit the OHH Foundation. Bring a jump rope, a smile, and tons of energy...water, popsicles and music will be provided.
