course offerings & placement
This section of our website was developed to promote an understanding of our course offerings, the placement process and prerequisites needed for each course, and to provide information on what is learned in each course.
In our elementary schools, all students study Spanish beginning in kindergarten through fifth grade. We offer Spanish and French at our middle and high schools, and add Latin and Mandarin to our repertoire at the high school.
Our goal is to place students in the course that will maximize their proficiency, provide an appropriate level of challenge, and enhance the educational experience for each student. Sending teachers and the Department Chair consider a variety of factors when making placement decisions.
