The Health Services Department is dedicated to supporting the physical, mental, and social well-being of all Darien students. Our mission is to ensure students are healthy, safe, and ready to fully participate in academic learning, extracurricular programs, and school activities. Our team includes the Director of Nursing Services, School Nurses in each building, and a District Medical Advisor. Together, we provide high-quality, student-centered health services throughout the school district. The Director of Nursing Services oversees the development, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of the district’s comprehensive school health program. Our School Nurses deliver direct care and promote overall wellness by encouraging healthy habits, teaching self-care skills, and addressing or minimizing health-related barriers to learning. School Nurses ensure students meet required health standards, including physical assessments and immunizations, and take the lead in managing medical emergencies. They also play a key role in public health monitoring within the schools. In compliance with state mandates, nurses conduct routine screenings for vision, hearing, and posture to support early identification and intervention.
