Registration Process
Welcome to the Darien Public Schools!
2023 - 2024 School Year:
Kindergarten registration for students entering the Darien elementary schools in 2023-2024 is processed online.
In order to be eligible to attend Kindergarten in 2023-2024, children must be five years of age on or before January 1, 2024.
Registration for Kindergarten (or any grade level) is as easy as 1, 2, 3!
Follow the directions below and if you have any questions during the process please reach out the building secretary for assistance.
2024 - 2025 School Year:
New Entry Age for Kindergarten Beginning in the 2024-2025 School Year
Beginning with the 2024-2025 school year, children need to turn 5 years old on or before September 1, 2024 in order to be automatically eligible for kindergarten. This is a change from the current kindergarten cutoff date of January 1. (CGS Section 1 of Public Act 23-208, Section 1).

Step 1:
Create a Darien Family Connections account or log on to Aspen Portal.
New family
Create an account on our Darien Family Connections site: https://ct-darien.familyconn.com/
Existing family
Log on to Aspen: https://aspen.darienps.org/
and select the link "Register New Student" on main page.
Step 2:
Once logged on to the Family Connections portal,
create a profile for the student.
Submit all required documents.
Examples of required paperwork at time of registration:
- Proof of residence:
Mortgage, lease or purchase contract - Secondary proof of residence:
Utility bills - Photo ID
- Child's birth certificate
- Child's health records (Health Requirements 2024-2025)
Further documents may be required dependent on each family situation.
Step 3:
You may save your registration at any time and continue at a later time before submitting for administration review.
Once all paperwork is ready, please hit SUBMIT. Please allow a few days for review and the building secretary will be in touch to confirm successful registration.
Please note:
Your child is not considered fully registered until all documents have been reviewed and verified by district personnel.
