English Honor Society

From the national organization's webpage: "The National English Honor Society (NEHS), founded and sponsored by Sigma Tau Delta, is the only international organization exclusively for secondary students and faculty who, in the field of English, merit special note for past and current accomplishments."

DHS Chapter Mission: "We pledge to encourage a school-wide appreciation of English, raise the general level of writing, and acknowledge those DHS students who place the highest importance on the study of English."

Selection Criteria: Applications are made available in October and to be considered students must meet the application deadline. The minimum GPA required for selection is 3.70. Even if an applicant meets our GPA requirement, NEHS selection will depend upon their performance in these three areas:

• enrollment in English department electives,
• participation in English department sponsored clubs and events, and
• high-level writing capabilities, including on-demand writing.

These three criteria are based on past experience of NEHS student participation.
