At MMS, your student has the opportunity to write for our digital newspaper (The Dragon), meet visiting authors (above), serve as a Summer Reading Ambassador, participate in the annual school musical, attend Darien Library book talks, and compete in the Scripps National Spelling Bee.

Poetry Out Loud 2024 - Kartheek Palla (third), Charlotte Sadik-Khan (winner), Milana Melnick (second)

At DHS, your student has the opportunity to write for our digital newspaper (Neirad) and/or our literary journal (Current), meet visiting authors and poets, participate in the fall drama or spring musical, compete in our annual Poetry Out Loud recitation event (above), attend a Shakespeare on the Sound drama workshop (grades 9 and 10), be selected for our chapter of the National English Honor Society, serve in our Peer-to-Peer Writing Center, submit original pieces to writing contests, determine the summer reading selection for AP Lang juniors (Editorial Board Project), and go on literature-based international field trips.
