ACTFL core practices


The American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) provides educators with Core Practices that guide teachers toward teaching language proficiency rather than simply teaching about the target language. Here in the Darien Public Schools, we provide students with opportunities to do something with the language, and not just demonstrate what they know about the language. Our goal is for students to become proficient in the language(s) they choose to study, and to provide them with the tools to do so. The Six Core Practices are below.
